Mays Moon: Waxing Crescent 12.2%

Mays Moon: Waxing Crescent 12.2% If you look to the right of the moon. You’ll notice a faint white dot, that dot is Mars. That far off planet just happened to be bright enough, to be photographed with the moon Tuesday night. It’s been two months since I’ve seen the moon. It’s either been to cloudy, rainy or I was to busy. So it was nice to get to see my favorite photography subjects.

The Mays Moon has several names. Full Flower Moon, because the flowers begin to bloom. It’s also been called the Corn Planting Moon or the Milk Moon. Either way they all seem appropriate for the month of May.

If your interested in learning more about the moon, check out https://www.timeanddate.com/astronomy/moon/full-moon-names.html. I use time and date almost daily, for info on what’s happening in our sky. This is a really great web sit for sky watchers, they even have an Interactive Night Sky Map. It simulates the sky above in your area, as well as locating the Sun, Planets, solar and lunar eclipses. Check them out and see where the Mays Moon: Waxing Crescent is in your area, you won’t be disappointed.

I encourage you to get outside and do a little mooning yourself. Moon watching that, is!  You just never know what you may see, maybe even a shooting star or two.
